Today Moneysense Magazine listed Bay Roberts, Newfoundland as the worst place to live in Canada. I have to wonder if the person who made that designation has ever been to Bay Roberts.
As a brand new resident of Bay Roberts, I think it is a fantastic place to live. it is a vibrant community with lots of cultural activities and events. It has a very progressive town council and the people who work for the town are forward-thinkers who are constantly trying to improve. How many other towns do you know of that are constantly trying to improve and make itself better. That attitude alone makes it one of the best places to live in Canada.
There are events like the ‘A Time in Pigeon Inlet’ series that brings people from across Newfoundland and across Canada, and the Klondyke Festival is known island wide. To name just a few.
The author of the article based his reasoning on high unemployment, low average household income and a dismal cultural industry. Well I am employed full time, enjoy the benefits of an above average income and enjoy the many cultural events in Bay Roberts.
Just my opinion!
